Caramel
Icing
Use
dark brown sugar for best flavor.

c butter, unsalted |
1/2
c milk |
2 c dark
brown sugar, packed |
4 c sifted
powdered sugar |
Melt
butter in saucepan over low heat, add brown sugar and stir. Add
in milk and bring to boil, stirring to dissolve sugar. Remove from
heat and allow to cool. Beat powdered sugar into the butter and
milk mixture until smooth. This recipe may be halved.

Brown
Sugar Glaze
This
glaze is great for spiced cakes, such as Ginger Spice Cake.
1/2
c brown sugar, packed |
1
T butter |
2 T milk |
1/4 t
vanilla |
1/2 t
instant coffee |

Whisk
the brown sugar, milk and instant coffee together in small saucepan.
Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until coffee and sugar
dissolve. Bring to boil and boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat
and stir in the butter and vanilla. Whisk until melted and smooth.
